Spring Flower Sale
Even though there is snow on the ground and the temperature is freezing, spring is just around the corner and it’s time to start thinking about the flowers you need for spring and summer. Assistance League of Metro Columbus, once again, is having a flower sale with plants from Strader’s Nursery. The plant offerings, colored pictures, description and an order blank are available here for your preorder, which must be made by April 14, 2026. Pick up will be at the Overbrook Presbyterian Church in Clintonville on Friday, May 8, 2026, from 4 to 6 p.m.

Spring Luncheon — April 25, 2026
The Assistance League of Metro Columbus Spring Luncheon will be Saturday, April 25, 2026, at the Makoy Center, Hilliard, OH. The luncheon will begin at 11 a.m. with a cash bar, bake sale, silent auction with 20+ baskets of goodies and gift cards. Once again, our members will model spring and summer fashions from Chico’s.

Fall Flower Sale, Sept. 2025
When the temperature hits 90 degrees, you may not be thinking about fall flowers, but September will be here before you know it and fall flowers will be for sale. Assistance League of Metro Columbus is offering mums, asters, celosia, pansy bowls and flowering kale in a variety of colors.
You must preorder from any member or use the attached order form which must be completed and returned by Aug. 22, 2025. Pick up will be at the Overbrook Presbyterian Church parking lot at 4131 N. High St. Clintonville, on Sept. 19, 2025, between 4 and 6 p.m.

Casino Night Fundraiser
The 2025 Casino Night Fundraiser will be held at the Makoy Center in Hilliard, OH, on Friday, Oct. 24, beginning at 6:30 p.m. with heavy hors ‘oeuvres and a cash bar. At 7 p.m. fantasy gambling will begin along with a silent auction, bourbon and wine pulls, and a gift card tree. Lots of fun for everyone so get your reservation in early for $60/person. After Oct. 15 the price is $70/person. Use the Venmo code or PayPal, or send a check to our office.
Spring Flower Sale
The 2025 Spring Flower Sale of Assistance League was very successful. Attached here are the offerings of annuals from Strader’s Nursery. The pickup day was Friday, May 9, between 4 and 6 p.m. at the parking lot of the Overbrook Presbyterian Church off High St. in Clintonville.

Spring Luncheon and Fashion Show
The Assistance League annual Spring Luncheon and Fashion Show, “Flowers, Fashion and Fun,” was held at the Makoy Center in Hilliard, OH, on Saturday, April 12. After lunch, Carolyn Slebodnik, Administrative Program Director at the Van Buren Center, spoke about their programs and how Assistance League contributes greatly to them. The event garnered approximately $7,000 for the chapter’s philanthropic programs.

2024 Fundraising Events
Holiday Bake Sale
Local Roots in Powell, OH, is the location for another Holiday Bake Sale with all items prepared by Assistance League of Metro Columbus members. You’ll find holiday cookies, cupcakes, breads, candy, all packaged and ready for you. We will be located in the front entrance of the restaurant at 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., unless we are sold out earlier. Come join us on Thursday, Dec. 5, at Local Roots.
Casino Night

Flowers, Fashion and Fun
Spring Luncheon and Fashion Show
Approximately 130 ladies attended the chapter’s spring luncheon and fashion show, “Flowers, Fashion and Fun,” at the Makoy Center in Hilliard on Saturday, April 20, 2024.
After lunch, Jonathan Ross of Huckleberry House spoke about their program and how Assistance League helps with hygiene kits, clothing, and start-up baskets for the teens transitioning to apartments.
Colleen Marshall, Channel 4 TV evening anchor, moderated the fashion show, with Sharon Roman from Chico’s commenting on the clothes modeled by 12 Assistance League members.
There were about 25 baskets of “goodies,” all with gift cards from local businesses, and worth many, many dollars, that guests won at the end of the event.

Saturday, April 22, 2023, was the 20th Anniversary as a Chapter Spring Luncheon of Assistance League of Metro Columbus. Monica Day, Channel 4 news personality, moderated the event featuring clothes from Chico’s modeled by members of the chapter.

Spring Flower Sale
Each spring, orders and payments for flats of annuals and hanging baskets are taken by our members from friends, neighbors, business associates, and family members. This year the pick-up day will be FRIDAY, MAY 12, FROM 4 to 6 p.m. at the former Burgess and Niple parking lot on Reed Rd. Click here for the flower information and order blank. Combined flower sale

Restaurant Fundraisers
No restaurant fundraisers at this time.
Community Rewards Program and Giant Eagle Debit Cards
These two fundraising possibilities are ongoing throughout the year. The debit cards from Giant Eagle are purchased at face-value ($50) by our members and friends and are used like cash. Under the Kroger Community Rewards Program the amount of money spent at any one time is registered by email or in person using a Kroger’s Reward Card and an I.D. number and the amount of money spent earns the chapter 5 percent.
Grants
Grants are sought from major corporations and interested individuals. These opportunities are continuously being researched. These efforts require the input of all members for contacts to approach. There is a separate committee that meets frequently to work on securing grants, other financial assistance.
Grants received for 2021-22 are from the Emmy Lou Tompkins Foundation, Aldi’s, Joann Fabrics and the Mercator Group.
Memorials and Honorariums
Members and friends are encouraged to donate directly to these funds. Gifts may be designated for a specific project or given to be used as needed. Forms are available to submit with the donations.
Casino Night
The Makoy Center in Hilliard, OH, was the scene of the third annual Casino Night of Assistance League of Metro Columbus. The “fun” evening took place on Oct. 14, 2022. Here are photos from this year’s event:
